BREENSPACE aims to integrate art into everyday life, to transform the built environment, to activate imagination, to stimulate discussion and to challenge the way we view the world.
BREENSPACE responds to the shifts in contemporary art by supporting a range of emerging and mid-career artists who position processes as a central to their practice. Gallery artists include Gary Carsley, Beata Geyer, Simryn Gill, Dani Marti and Vanila Netto.
Gallery artists have been included in many important exhibitions, such as Documenta XXII; the Venice Biennale; the Sydney Biennale; the Istanbul Biennale, Art Basel; the Liverpool Biennale, the Berlin Biennale; the Singapore Biennale; and the Sao Paulo Biennale.
BREENSPACE is the culmination of a decade of curatorial practice by its Director, Sally Breen, who has held senior positions with public contemporary art institutions in Australia. Sally has contributed significantly to the dialogues on Australian contemporary practice through facilitating local and international curatorial and editorial initiatives and cultural exchanges.
