The exhibition On this day incorporates a moving image work, a photographic print and at its heart a physical installation of printed matter – a photographic work in the form of a newspaper stacked in a pile that simply presents 365 photographic images of people leaving Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The three works bring to mind intersecting ideas of commemoration, remembrance and everyday life as they relate to imperial quests for knowledge on a local and global scale.
