Janet Laurence’s work often explores time, movement, space and interaction. InVanishing, she fuses these concerns together into a mesmerising experience. A twin projection shimmers through tulle veils, whilst a series of mirrors reflect both the projections and the viewer, making the audience a part of the work rather than a passive observer. A soundscape of shifting breaths encourages the audience to connect with both the work and each other. A work that encourages participation whilst emphasising the fragility of the experience, Vanishing is one of Laurence’s most immersive works.
