Kate Murphy is selected for The UQAM's National Portrait Prize
24 September 2011 – 12 February 2012

In Kate Murphy's latest video self-portrait, we see her performing a series of handstands, symbolising the ubiquitous figure used when presenting statistical information. Murphy's work references common fears that society has surrounding health, career, relationships and particularly mortality and dying alone. Relating these to her own anxieties, Murphy invited a statistician to analyse the probability of these events occurring in her life.
